Tours & Activities

There is a tour desk located in the reception area of Pacific Sands. With information about local attractions and activities, Jan is able to provide advice on the best activities to suit your holiday requirements. Jan will even book tours for you at no additional cost and most tour companies will collect guests directly from Pacific Sands.

The range of activities and tours available in the Cairns region are almost endless. Many visitors come to Cairns just to visit the world-famous Great Barrier Reef and some of its 600 islands. With scuba diving, snorkelling, reef submarines and underwater viewing platforms all available, all visitors have the ability to discover the wonders of the healthiest coral reef in the world.

Equally as beautiful and unique is the World Heritage listed rainforests. Glide over the top in a Skyrail gondola, or take a tour to the Daintree and see saltwater crocodiles up close. The region also has a number of wildlife parks where Australian fauna and flora are on display in natural exhibits.

Local produce and handicraft markets are held across the region on alternating weekends. Jan will be able to find out which towns are holding their markets during your stay. Cairns and Port Douglas hold markets every weekend.

Holloways Beach is perfect for picnicking, so Jan has an Esky (Cooler) available for hire so guests are able to pack their perfect picnic and lunch, walk down to the beach and enjoy the glorious weather that Far North Queensland is famous for.

Holloways Beach is perfect for kite surfing. Those looking to start out can find all the tutelage and equipment they require at Kite Rite Australia. Kite Rite is a kite surfing school located at Yorkeys Knob only a 10 minute drive north. Why not try yet another way to enjoy the glorious waters off Cairns?

Whether you like walking, horse riding, paintball, hot air ballooning, shopping, hang gliding or caving, the Cairns region as it all!

Looking for something a little different? Cairns has its very own Ukulele Club which meets every Wednesday at Holloways Beach. Immerse yourself into the ukulele craze that culminates in the Cairns Ukulele Festival held in Cairns each July.
